  • To determine if you are an HSP, there are a few key traits to look for. Highly sensitive people tend to feel deeply and intensely. They may become easily overstimulated or overwhelmed in busy or chaotic environments. They may be sensitive to loud noises, bright lights, or strong smells. Thus, needing extra time to process and adjust to new situations. Additionally, HSPs often have strong empathy for others. They may feel affected by the emotions of those around them.

  • Being highly sensitive is not a disorder, but a personality trait. While it is true that some individuals may struggle with their sensitivity and experience difficulties coping with their emotions, this does not mean that being highly sensitive is inherently problematic. In fact, many highly sensitive people are able to use their sensitivity as a strength. Especially in their personal and professional lives.

  • It’s common to confuse being highly sensitive with being shy and introverted. While there may be some overlap in these traits, they are distinct from each other. Being highly sensitive means that you are more attuned to your emotions and the emotions of others. You may be more easily overwhelmed by sensory stimuli. Shyness, on the other hand, refers to feeling nervous or timid in social situations. While introversion is a personality trait characterized by a preference for solitude and reflection.
